Hair Dye and Pregnancy?

I died my hair black a few years ago and really liked it and have been thinking of doing it again, but I don't want to pay TOO much at the salon when ten bucks will do at Wal-Mart. I've read some of the answers to "Is Hair Dye safe during pregnancy?" on Answers and else where on the internet, but is there a difference between the Salon treatments and the store-bought treatments? Being two months pregnant, are the risks the same or not?

They say the chemicals presently used are more difficult to absorb into the skin, but is that all hair dye or just professional treatments? Does anyone have any idea? Thanks!

You can get a special vegetable hair dye , that has no chemicals in it , however it may only last 4-5 weeks but its worth doing so as to protect your baby and to look good .You can order this from most health food shops or go online some hairdressers will also do this for you .

This is one of those controversial topics. To be on the safe side, check with your OB/GYN for the latest literature about pregancy risks from cosmetic products.

It is my understanding that salons simply buy in bulk what we get in single-use doses at Wal-Mart...

It is widely thought that dying your hair in your first trimester could be a threat to your baby's health. That is why a lot of celebrities dye their hair close to their natural color when they decide to try for a baby.

I do not think that you should use chemicals when you are pregnant, but I have great news for you when I was reading Harper's Bazaar and Britney spears has jet black hair and we all know she is blonde. So, in saying that she used vegetable hair dye. Try it, and talk to a professional, the difference will show unless you are good in putting hair dye in your hair.
