well, I really want to dye my hair a dark brown color but it's my first time so I don't know what to choose. I dont wan't to burn my hair because It's already weak, but then I heard that if I henna my hair I wont be able to go lighter ever without stripping the color, and I'm a bit worried about that too..(what if i look horrible?) Now, my hair is naturally a light light brown or a very dark blonde. Any advice? I dont know anything about henna!
Q: henna vs. hair dye?
Henna is great, but if you use henna you shouldn't use regular dye again until the henna'd hair grows out completely.
I recommend just using semi-permanent or demi-permanent color (it doesn't have ammonia and has very little peroxide in it) like Clairol Natural Instincts (I've used it off and on since I was a teenager, it washes out in about 28 shampoos.)
Since you've never dyed your hair before, err on the side of going too light (the dye won't actually lighten your hair, it can only darken it, but if you may not want something too drastic at first.) You can always go darker with semi-permanent, but you have to wait for it to fade to go lighter.
Good luck!

Q: henna vs. hair dye?
Go to an upscale salon and talk to a hairstylist.. I would never do anything without asking my stylist or letting her do it.
