The Egyptians used red clay as hair dye. They pack it and leave it.They also used dark teas to stain the hair. Henna is a natural dye and some people say lemon juice and sun exposure will lighten hair. Back to the Egyptians, and many other cultures, plants, particularly flowering plants were used to make dye that was used on hair, fabric, and they used them to make paints and inks. You can probably do a simple search online and find lots of information. Also check holistic stores and web sites. Lots of health food stores will be able to give you some ideas on how to use plants and flowers to make dye. Good luck.
