RAW blue black permanent hair dye? Does it bleed like Special Effects dye?

I've used RAW several times before when I wanted to temporarily dye my hair pink or blue and etc....Unfortunetly for work I cannot dye my hair those colors anymore. I have black hair currently and wanted to dye my hair the RAW blue black permanent color. For those of you who have used this dye before, I know that RAW along with Manic Panic and Special Effects their dyes bleed when you shower. Is it the same for this? I understand this one is permanent and the others are demi-permanent I just want to make sure I get my moneys worth...they are 8$ a box and I need for boxes. Thanx!!

there are no true permanent funky colors. any color like that is going to have wash out in the shower, as the color particles are meant to wash out a little with each shampoo (that is just the chemical make up of any semi-permanent color). the raw and special effects they sell at hot topic in my mall are not sold in boxes, nor are they $8; more like $13, and they are in 8 oz bottles i think http://www.hottopic.com/hottopic/store/p... even if the product says permanent, it is not going to be. there is no way to make blues, purples, pinks, etc, permanent. those color molecules are huge; they will fade. period. putting them in a permanent color solution will just lighten your natural color, so that when the funky color fades out, you are left with a lightened base that will most likely have an orange tone. don't do it! even the raw/special effects that say demi-permanent aren't truly demi-permanent, as you use them directly out of the bottle, and demis are oxidative (must be mixed with a low volume developer). they are more like a hair "stain"; they last a really long time. but yes, they will wash out a little with each shower, so you will have a bit of the color coming down in the water. it happens. in my experience, if you want the longest lasting funky color, raw and special effects (the one i linked you to at hot topic) do last the best. blues typically fade fastest. and funky colors last best on bleached hair. the damage allows the stain to "grab" better for some reason. i had great luck with beyond the zone from sally's when i went pink over bleach; i had to cover it up with brown, as it wouldn't come out 3 months later lol. but if you aren't bleaching, and you just want a blue tone over black hair, raw/special effects is your best bet. if you actually want blue black permanent color, go to sally's; they make blue black permanent color that isn't a funky color line! blue black has been a popular color for years among older asian women and older african american women. just stay away from the "mix with water" kits (nasty metallic dyes *yuck*). i always recommend going the more professional route and getting your color and developer separate, as opposed to getting a box, so you can determine your developer volume, and therefore reduce damage to your hair. you want a level one color with a blue base, and a 10 volume developer. most colors are equal parts mixing, meaning for every 2 ounces of color, you want 2 ounces of developer. (if you usually use 4 boxes, you want 4 tubes, which is 8 ounces, so you need 8 ounces of developer) i prefer creme developer, because it is thicker. get a bowl and a brush, unless you like a bottle better (they sell bottles too; ask an associate if you need help). make sure you ask them for a pair of gloves. get a couple packs of conditioner (should be at the counter) for use after the color too, just for good measure (usually 99 cents each or so).

good luck!
